Updates from the Digital Verification Corps (DVC)

Over Michaelmas, Cambridge’s branch of Amnesty International’s Digital Verification Corps (DVC) has been hard at work from the Alison Richard Building. For a new project relating to state violence against journalists covering protests, the team has conducted remote open-source research across eighteen different countries, assembling several hundred pieces of user-generated content for analysis. Once they have verified this content, it will contribute to Amnesty’s global mapping project – showcasing the scale of violations and the necessity of greater protections. The DVC looks forward to continuing this work through 2024, at a moment when documentation and accountability proves ever-more critical.
