Algorithmic Governance: Theory and Practice

As part of our Global Experiences of Algorithmic Governance Research Seminar Series, we welcomed Professor Christian Katzenbach from the University of Bremen for a talk on Tuesday, 29 October 2024.

Christian Katzenbach, a Professor of Communication and Media Studies, shared with us his expertise on media governance and platform economics. In this talk he expanded on the theoretical frameworks of algorithmic governance to reflect on how variable experiences of algorithmic governance may be conceptualised, documented, and analysed.

The very well attended talk culminated in a discussion with the audience in which the social problems and power inequalities that Algorithmic Governance is deeply entrenched with were further explored.
