Dr Njoki Wamai is currently an Assistant Professor in Politics and International Relations at United States International University-Africa in Nairobi and Dean at the online School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG). At USIU-Africa she teaches Political Science, African International Relations, Postcolonial perspectives to International Relations, Gender in Politics and Research Methods. Her research focus is on transitional justice, African political thought, human rights, youth movements, gender justice in climate debates and global justice using a decolonial, postcolonial and feminist lens.
She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre of Governance and Human Rights (CGHR), University of Cambridge in 2018 where she examined transitional justice from a critical lens beyond the dominant liberal narratives. Her achievements include publishing several book chapters, policy engagement, advocacy, media engagement and teaching politics and gender in a way that transform learners’ consciousness.
