Research Assistant

Selena Cai is a Research Assistant at the Centre of Governance and Human Rights and a Research Intern at the Advocacy Team. She recently completed an MPhil in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, where she received the Holland Rose Studentship and Johnston Prize. Prior to Cambridge, she received a B.A. with Joint Honours in History and Political Science and a minor in Classical Studies from McGill University.

Her research and professional interests – focusing on Afro-Asian solidarity, global governance, and international political sociology – stem from three research assistantships between McGill and Concordia University, serving on two occasions in the Canadian public service, and contributing to education advocacy projects. Selena’s efforts have notably resulted in a museum exhibit for the Asian-Pacific Peace Museum, an Indigenous youth STEM Education program at McGill University, and studies across five countries. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the euphonium and trombone, historical fashion, and playing board games.
