Declarations: The Human Rights Podcast is recruiting a brilliant and inclusive new team of volunteer members to help produce accessible, critical content about human rights for our global and diverse listenership for our Season 9.
As part of the Declarations team, you will have the opportunity to shape the podcast’s orientation, guests and content. In Season 8, we reflected on the 75 years of the UDHR and asked questions such as: who are human rights for? Where is the ‘human’ in ‘human rights’? What have we learned about human rights conceptually, as well as in practice, over the last 75 years? We discussed various topics including the western hegemony in human rights debates, politics, human rights defenders, captivity and prisons, gender-based violence, rights through protest and revolution in Syria and human rights due diligence in sports events.
As always, the theme for Season 9 (2024-25) will be open for the team to collectively agree upon. Declarations has a back catalogue of 104 episodes on a diversity of global human rights topics and guests who are activists, practitioners and academic experts. Declarations is run out of the Centre of Governance and Human Rights (CGHR) at Cambridge POLIS.
Applicants can be any member of the university, from undergrads to MPhils, PhDs or distinguished professors, politics junkies or physicists. What’s important is your passion for human rights, social justice, and podcasts. Previous experience is welcome, but not necessary. Commitment to diversity is a must. People from underrepresented backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. Check out previous episodes on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen. You can also find us on Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, and our website.
