Human Rights PhD Circle 2025

The Human Rights PhD Circle is an initiative supported by the Human Rights Centers at the London School of Economics, the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights at the University of Oslo, the University of Antwerp, the University of Cambridge (CGHR), and the University of Essex. This initiative offers an annual opportunity for PhD students from the five partner institutions involved in human rights research to present their research and exchange ideas. The Circle is dedicated to fostering and advancing interdisciplinary doctoral research across a wide array of human rights topics.

This year’s annual meeting was hosted by the Centre of Governance and Human Rights at the University of Cambridge. We had 17 excellent presentations from PhD Researchers across the different partner institutions, followed by rich, stimulating discussions of the individual projects.

CGHR would like to say ‘thank you’ to all the presenters and the chairs of the presentation panels for an excellent and insightful day! If you are interested in presenting your work next year, do watch out for the call for submissions for the 2026 Human Rights PhD Circle!
