CGHR Student Group

Ready to make an impact?

CGHR is looking for Student Volunteers!

The Centre of Governance and Human Rights is home to a vibrant community of Academics, Postdoctoral Scholars, Affiliates, Visiting Researchers and Student Volunteers who are strongly committed to advancing thought and practice within areas of critical importance to global justice and human well-being in the twenty-first century.

We are currently looking for Volunteers across all of our three Student Volunteer Groups!

Digital Verification Corps (DVC)

Our DVC Student Volunteers work and train with Amnesty International (this year’s training will take place 31st October -1st November). Members work together to promote international accountability efforts and advance human rights by fact-checking, geolocating, and authenticating digital content, contributing to Amnesty’s campaigns by assembling and corroborating evidence of human rights abuses. Last year, our Cambridge DVC Student Volunteers contributed for example towards a hugely important report published by Amnesty International on Iran’s 2022 Woman Life Freedom Uprising.

Apply to join here or via the QR code in the flyer by 16 October 2026!

CGHR Student Group

Our CGHR Student Group plays a central role in coordinating events, publicity & outreach as well as planning and carrying out their own research project. They select and invite speakers for our annual Practitioner Series (past speakers have included inspiring founders of NGO’s, UN Special Mandate Holders and a former Associate Director at Human Rights watch). They also receive supervision from the Researchers at CGHR to produce and publish their own research project, and collaborate with our other Student Volunteer Groups.

Register your interest to join the Student Group here or via the QR code in the flyer by 12th of October.

Declarations – The Human Rights Podcast

Our Podcast Volunteers produce Declarations – The Human Rights Podcast. As part of the Declarations Team, volunteers have the opportunity to shape the podcast’s orientation, guests and content. Past episodes have explored topics like racial equality in the United Kingdom, petro-capitalism in Nigeria, and Europe’s missing migrant children. Our previous guests have included activists, practitioners and academic experts. There are various roles available, from hosts to panelist to shownote writers – if you are interested in any of these please sign-up here.

If you are interested in joining the Declarations Team as Executive Producer or Podcast Lead, please send a short CV and a few words about your motivation to cghr@polis.cam.ac.uk by 12th of October 2026. If you want to join the Podcast Team in any other capacity (host, panelist, sound editor, shownote writer…) please register your interest to join here or via the QR code in the poster.
